Great story by Warren Thompson! It only increases my already great admiration for Jimmy Stewart-what a man! Not many people would abandon the 'golden situation' of Hollywood and risk their lives for the defense of their nation-over and over- like Stewart did.

Also, kudos to Colonel Amos for a long and great service to his nation with the Air Force. What a achievement, to go from '52s to '105s-and not just in a training or reserve status, but in combat situations. I greatly admire all the 'Thud' drivers!!

My dad, Maj A B Robertson Jr flew 50 missions in B-24s with the 15th AF out of Pantanella, Italy Mar '44-Feb '45. Read about him and his a/c the 'Three Cornered Kid' at www.USAAF.com > forum > stories by Robbie4m.

July 8, 1967 - a B52 (56-0601) made an emergency landing in Da Nang Vietnam and exploded leaving only 1 survivor, tailgunner Albert Whatley. Do you have any pictures or information regarding the destruction of this airplane or the crew members? And, do you know if the whole plane was scraped afterwards or was part sent to a museum? My father, Donald J Reynolds, was killed and I would really like any information you might have.
Thanks for your help,
Paula
