Military History Reader Poll – March 2013

Which of history’s generals do you consider to have the most exaggerated fame, and which the most overblown notoriety?

  1. Patrick Emmer

Bernard Law Montgomery, British Field Marshal of WWII fame. He never attacked unless he possessed considerable numerical superiority. Tactically and strategically devoid of innovation and vision, narcissistic on a personal level, and militarily pedestrian at best.
