My mother was a WAVE US Navy and stationed in the tower at the Memphis Air base. She typed up the roll calls and did other clerical work. She was present for that famous mission over Europe. She recently passed away at age 88. God Bless You All and God Bless America.

Charles Leighton was from Lansing Michigan and in 1930 my mother was his Sunday school teacher of which I have a picture plus newspaper picture of his wife in her wedding gown. I saw the movie and was greatly moved. The Church he attended First Christian Church of Christ Disciples is still functioning and is having it's 100th anniversary this year 2012.

I have a little book that is titled 25 Missions. It is the original story of the Memphis Belle. It says it is restricted on the cover as well. It also states that it is published by authority of the Commanding General, Army Air Forces. It is dated July, 1943 in almost perfect condition. I am very pleased to have come across such an amazing peice of history.

The Memphis Belle had long had the reputation of being the first 8th Air Force B-17 to complete 25 missions. Morgan's crew were the first to complete their 25 but the first aircraft to do so was the 91st 's Hell's Bells, albeit flown by different crews.
