I honestly think Mary's life was nothing but hell; no need to have any dead relative 'brought back' to drag her to it. It came to her. Her father and Anne Boleyn were the ultimate Satan, male and female parts combined.

Truly, I feel very sorry for Mary as well as her mother, Katherine. A true queen and a true princess robbed of not only their so-called 'divine' birthrights, but also robbed of life, ultimately. They were forbidden to see each other; Katherine passed away without being able to see, talk to or to hold Mary.

Henry VIII (and possibly Anne Boleyn) was (were) truly (a) horrific monster(s)! I will not hesitate to say this.

I would not be surprised if I am correct to say Mary truly was near dead before her body was crowned Queen. She found some little life-sparking hope - in a marriage that was loveless, a child or two which existed either via power of her will or power of nature which was interrupted by stress very early on, and - agreed - her tunnel vision: seeing the Catholic church as everyone's savior.

Mary did kill many people. Many innocent people. While her life is an excuse, it was fanaticism beyond anything Christians claimed to uphold that led her to do such things, it's not a totally pardonable reason. Personally, I feel that she sort of paid it forward in regards to those deaths.

She totally lost sight of reality, I guess.

Truly, I do hold Lady/Princess/Queen Mary, as I do Princess Charlotte Augusta (George the IV's daughter), close to my heart. I can sympathize living a life of pain - though I would never claim to have gone through what she (actually, they) had, or know fully what she (again, they) thought and felt.

I do pray that the souls of King Henry VIII and Lady/Queen Anne Boleyn know the horrendous crimes they committed against two of nature's brightest, most golden gifts embodying true love.

Honestly, I don't feel Anne could have asked for a better sibling for her Elizabeth than Mary (who very well probably did hate her, as well as find it beyond her to show anything more than care, if not outright love.) Henry was too conceited and selfish to even know what he had - though it seems he probably did know it, at first, then lost touch with the reality himself.

Eh - forgive my rantings, but I only speak my heart here. Definitely a life wasted - I feel more so by others than really by herself. I guess where she did sign her own death-warrant and how was by not getting outside herself to actually listen to her people and realize they wanted no more to do with Rome (and the Pope) as well as wished to remain forever more wholly English. No Spain, and maybe not even France - England.

A very horrifically sad story. May she rest in peace, with the gods.

Yes, the story of Mary Tudor is the story of a tragedy. Her big mistake was to marry a man who was 11 years her junior, Philip II, and a too vain and unexperienced prince.

Of course, they were other choices or matches for Mary : there was Cardinal Pole who was 16 years her senior, or Ferdinand 1 who was 13 years her senior. Those two capable noble men would have been better reasonable choices, even though they were not graced with beauty.

But unfornately, Queen Mary Tudor fell for the physical beauty of the spanish prince, marrying the handsome and young Philip II of Spain who was totally unfit to the challenges of the time.

seeing her life as narrated above... She is not really an ill fated monarch.. she had an opportunity to put a great mark in the history, more than just seeing her life as generally a tragic one,.., Alas,.. she failed to see the opportunity that came her way, much so.. she failed to make good use of it...
