Sherman, who did little of military value in his meandering slog throughout the Carolinas. All of the details that distinguish your narrative of Stoneman's raid, rapid marches, running battles, capture of military stores, and decisive disruption of Lee's operations are certainly not characteristic of Sherman's lazy prosecution of Southern civilians.
