Jimmie Rogers assistant Machine Gunner with I Company 3rd Batt. 1st Marines .They along with H Company held the south and west perimeter of Hagaru-ri . My father spoke to me only if asked about there ordeal those cold scary nights ,but I never remember him speaking of it to another living soul,and that included my mother. He earned the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart the night of 29 Nov '50 in Hagaru-ri but he never put much stock in any of his awards.I guess he felt if everyone there couldn't rate them none should.He stayed in the Corp and became a Sr DI in at PI and then went into Aviation at El Toro. They say courage is fear that has said it's prayers.Well these Marines of the Chosin said there prayers. Love ya Pop S/Fi My father was Cpl. I am trying to track his whereabouts over there. He never told me about it and he passed away in 2000. I am very proud of him and can't believe what he went through. He was a lifetime marine.
