Ms. Jones,

Thank you for your time today and the incredibly valuable information and contacts. This is going to mean so much for me and my father Sgt Billie Banks 24th infantry / 82nd airborne Korea. We are very excited about Jacksonville this coming July, i'm sure this will rattle a few memories for him, both good and bad but more important, clarity and closure.

Thank you,
John Banks

Mr Brown & Max,

My father passed away in 1965 when I was just a baby, and his records stated that he was in the 34th infantry Co D in Korea. If your fathers know him, or have any info on the unit, could you please share it with me.
My dad's name was Edward Hilton, he was a CPL until 1951 then became a SGT. I beleive he was a cook in the unit in Korea, however he was in WWII as well as a Lt Mechine Gunner

I ask for any info on the 34th in Korea/Japan around 1951-1953 because I found out that I have a half-brother born around 1952 in Japan while my dad served with the 34th.

thank you

My Grandfather served in the 24th howitzer division. He has told me stories. But has trouble talking about it. I have read the history on the 24th in Korea and it was brutal. What these men endured was horrific. My grandfather was trained as a sniper and had to run through the rice patties at full sped shooting everyone in sight to clear the way for the artillary. He also lost his best friend to a mine field. If you have any stories or questions you can call me at 509-869-9473. Thanks! Angela Moore

Ms. Brown,

I sent you father an email about my father who also was part of the 34th Regiment. He is 81 and I hope that by chance they might know each other.

It is so sad that the buerocrats in Washington didn't learn anything from the downsizing of our military so soon after WW 2. This cost so many lives by putting untrained, undermanned, poorly equipped men in harms way. And then to blame them for rettreating in the face of a massive, well equipped and well trained enemy. How riduculous!

Wow this is a great site. My father, McKinley Owens served in the 24th Division of the Korean War. He didn't talk much about it. A few stories here and there. Unfortunately he passed away in 2006. I have a few pics he took from those days. I would be interested in posting them on a page dedicated to the soldiers. Is there a site with images?
Thanks for sharing and connecting. I would like to know more about that time.
