Hope to attend next years conference. I know Dr. Crane personally and have to say that he is a fascinating guy to speak with. We usually discuss hockey more than history, but I have found many historians of his calibre to be extremely interesting people with a vast array of knowledge and interests in many areas. I meet several of these authors and scholars in my line of work, and have read their books and been pleasantly surprised with how willing they are to discuss not only their work, but everyday matters as well.

I was amused by the fact that it was the active duty colonel, the one instructing at West Point, who seems to be the more clear headed of the two on the subject of the incredible waste of our nation's youth and COIN (if you'll forgive the pun) in the Mideast. But then, what do I know? I only went to West Point to take pictures.
