Madam, Looking at the website "Historynet.com" I discovered your message (02 09 2008) saying that vou are a direct descendant of J.P.Blanchard.
I have been working since many years on his life and his family.
I would therefore appreciate very much if you could help me in my search, as i have some doubts re my owns ancestors who may be also coming from that same branch.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

Thank you for your interesting and concise history of THE first flight in the United States. As a retired Naval Aviator and Airline captain, I'm glad to learn about the first U.S. pilot.

What an interesting narration! As a child I played near the field where he landed and there is now a development called "Blanchard's Landing". A painting I saw of the scene showed people in shirt-sleeves. It was a very warm winter which helped bring about a yellow fever epidemic. Our Deptford township seal has a hot air balloon on it. I didn't realize Washington saw him take off and that it was the first air mail. Thank you for the info!
