The history books are wrong! My wife is the great-granddaughter of William C. Farnsworth of Sacramento. He was a friend of James Marshall's. We have a letter from James W. Marshall to William C. Farnsworth saying that he found gold on the 18th of January, not the 24th. History should be accurate.
