Two stories about Mr. Felgar. He was shot down on 8/13/44 in the Falaise Pocket and captured. It didn't have to happen that way if our Group Commander had heeded the advice of his lead navigator to deviate fromthe planned course to avoid the flak guns that shot down 2 B-17's in the formation ahead. I was already a POW at S/LIII when he got there himself. Funny thing was that my pilot on our last mission left behind at the base a brand new tailor-made uniform. Felgar admitted to having taken the uniform for his own use thereafter which made my pilot very angry at him. He got over it but never forgot it. People said it was routine for survivors to salvage the personal effects of downed crews. Often times, families at home got nothing but socks and underwear left over after the good stuff was looted.
