My name is Julia Mayer and at the moment I'm writing a term paper. My issue is called the "Operation Little Vittles". For me, a contact with Mr. Halvorsen would be really helpful! Is it possible to get his email? I would be really glad!

Thank you for helping!

This is exactly why people become pilots. They have a passion for it and they dream about becoming a pilot. Halvorsen is a role model to people who think becoming a pilot these days is too competitive and "not worth it". Truly inspirational.

Thank you for sharing this, it was very interesting.

My name is Sally Boyden and I just read the wonderful book on Gail Halvorsen 'Candy Bomber' by Michael O. Tunnell.

I have a history with Mr Halvorsen - I named my band after him. I have been in show business since I was seven years old in Australia. I grew up in LA, NY and London as a working actress in 'Lassie', 'The Waltons' etc. I am a musician, performer with my own band and work with Duran Duran.

I first heard of Gail when my guitarist in London told me of a documentary about him for the BBC. I immediately knew that 'The Candy Bombers' was the name for my band.

I wanted to clear it with Gail first and I contacted him online and sent him a copy of my music to get his approval to use his moniker. Upon receiving my work, he sent me the most beautiful email, and I quote 'I love your Candy Bombers' and gave his nod. I was so happy.

Under the name 'The Candy Bombers' (which in his spirit is perfect for the music, as it is uplifting, yet telling). I even sang for The Queen at her Jubilee under the name 'Sally Boyden & The Candy Bombers'. It was quite a day, about 100,000 people, in Hyde Park, London.

I would love to send him an update on my life and times. The email I have for him is bouncing back. Is he still at at the same address?

Would you be so kind to forward me his current email? I'm sure he will remember our correspondence.

I have also co-created a children's show called 'Punktuition' which airs on PBS - I work with the Sesame St. people for that project, and 'The Candy Bombers' is very much alive.

Yours sincerely,
Sally Boyden

I'm doing a report on Gail Halvorsen and would like to get to know him. If there is a email address I can contact him from it would be much appreciated to know. Please send the address to mine if possible. Any small conversation with him would be nice but not necessary if it is inconvenient for him. please reply to "cochranekc@yahoo.com". Thank You.

My daughter is doing a thesis on the Berlin Airlift. Is there a contact number, possibly an email, that she could get a short interview with Colonel Gail Halvorsen? I would appreciate any assistance. Mary Resler

It’s an inspiring interview of a pilot who was a farm-boy. He had joined a training program at a ground school. Her mother was not well. The financial-situation of his family was not good but he had a dream to fly. He had joined army<a href="http://www.commercialpilottraining.net/" rel="nofollow"> pilot training program in May 1942, in spite of many difficulties. Luckily he got the most skilled trainers of the AIR-FORCE. The rigorous training provided by them help him to become transport pilot.
This story tells where a will is there is a way.

Hello, my name is Jens Wiesner, a journalist working for a German science magazine for children and teens called GEOlino. (www.geolino.de). In this magazine, we would like to publish an article explaining our young readers about the "candy bombers" and we'd like to add an (written) interview with one of the most famous, "Uncle Wiggly Wings". Maybe it is possible for you, to put us into contact or to ask him if he'd agree to do an interview? If it doesn't work, we'd do a portrait, but I think it's nicer for our young readers to "listen" to his words (on paper)...

Thank you very much in advance..
