  1. Cindy Merrill says:

I'm a food historian in training- my mentor is Sandra Oliver, who wrote SALTWATER FOODWAYS. I have over 49 historical cookbooks in my collection, incuding "Last Dinner on the Titanic" and Little House on the Prairie cookbook. My main interest centers on the 19th century, because of sanitation code requirements make it impractical to reach back much further- unless you modernize/update cooking methods, which is what I end up doing inevitably, paricularly for the colonial period.
