In 1981, my wife and I watched the space shuttle, Columbia, touch down at Edwards Air Force Base. This was the first landing of a shuttle. The memorable thing about it was the fact that I had my Mom with us. Mom was born in 1897 before the first airplane and here she was watching a space shuttle land. Quite a thrill for my dear old Mom.

Skylab 2,Skylab3, and the Apollo-Soyuz Space mission recoveries aboard USS New Orleans (LPH-11)...oh yeah, we also swept Haiphong Harbor for mines in 1973 at the end of the war.
