my father Harry Kundinger was on the Princeton when it was hit. He told me once that the only thing that saved his life was that he could hold his breath for extremely long periods of time. As the water surrounding the Princeton was aflame from the airplane fuel floating on top of the water. He held his breath long enough to escape the burning fuel and get rescued by sailors on another ship. That was the only time he ever spoke of the event to me.

I am still suspicious about the actual type of plane that sank the USS Princeton. I read on Wikipedia that the attacker was unseen, and on other articles only used the term dive bomber, but no specific stuff on model or type. I know the Judy does not have an armament configuration for two 550Ib bombs, nor that it was ever modified to carry them. Please, I would really like to find out!
