I was very young in 1945 but I remember my uncle very well.
He was a Lt. and was killed on Cebu Island in 1945 which was
very sad for an 8 year old. Nephew of Anson A. Maher III.

My Father fought on Cebu. He was with the 132nd regiment of the Americal Division. He had a Filipino side kick named Severo. He was from Cebu City and I would be interested in finding information about him. My father is alive and would love to hear from him again. Its probably like finding a needle in a haystack but thought I would give it a shot.
Thanks for any help,
Herb Hartswick

It was good to hear your story about Cebu. My father private Louis A.
Glogowski was in Cebu. He was in the Amercial Company and the 132
infantry. He recieved a bronze star for the fighting there. My family is
confused at what he did to recieve it and the Army doucments were destroyed in a fire in St. Louis. It would be interesting if we knew more.
Thank You

April 19, 1945 was the day my stepfather was killed on Cebu while firing on a Japanese cave which held explosives. His tank was damaged in the explosion and he was killed. He was Staff Sgt. Lee J. McDonald from Meridian , Miss. Just this day I was rereading his letters and later watched a WWII documentary which led me to investigate this site where I found your story.
I miss him every day. I do not believe that the world understands the impact war or tradegy has on children. They go on with their lives, but they do not forget.

Do you recall seeing a medical badge with two playing cards with Daffy Duck tipping his crown (King of Hearts) to Minnie Mouse in her Red Cross uniform (Queen of Hearts), with a red cross in the background? Dad was a doctor who was base commander of medical battalion at Cebu Island and surrounding islands. He wrote Walt Disney who designed the badge. I have the drawing from which the badge was struck (and letter form Walt Disney authoriizing its use), plus 800 letters of which many were typed: Major David J. Farwell, US Army. Am looking for other medical badges designed by Disney –or anyone else, especially in the South Pacific.

Dear sarge,

You are the first american soldier i have encountered that had written about fighting in Cebu during ww2. Would u in any way remember where the U.S army had their headquarter or hospital located in the city ? the reason why i ask is because we own an old house which some people said was once made into a makeshift headquarter or hospital during the last war. I sincerely hope you help me verify on this matter. Thanks for your story of bravery.
