Formed by the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Act of 2000, the ALBC (http://www.lincolnbicentennial.gov/) has fifteen members appointed by the President, the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. It includes two U.S. Senators and two U.S. Representatives from states where Lincoln lived, wrote legislation and practiced law. 

A resident of Dunwoody, Dr. Zainaldin has been president of the Georgia Humanities Council since 1997. Previously he served as president of the Washington-based Federation of State Humanities Councils. He also worked as deputy director of the American Historical Association and has taught history and law at Case Western Reserve University , Georgetown University and Emory University .

Dr. Zainaldin holds a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago . He attended Warner Robins High School in Georgia .
