What can be said? His bravery is appreciated by me as well as those he saved that day! I wish I had met him, but I may not have known as much about him as I do now. Thank you Fred Zabitosky!

My dad, Colonel Clyde R. Russell wrote the plans creating MACV-SOG and he was SOG's first Commanding Officer (1964-1966). As a unit, SOG received more Medal of Honor and other awards for heroism than any other unit fighting in that War. Vietnam Veterans from all units were some of the bravest and courageous warriors in American history. Today, there is a major roadway going through Fort Bragg, NC named in Fred Zabitosky's honor. May God Bless these brave Americans and keep our current soldier's in His Grace.

My brother Fred (or Butch as we in the family called him) was a great man. He was my hero and was very humble about the whole medal of honor issue. I am sure he smiles down from heaven when he sees us read things on the internet about his experiences and enjoys that he is not forgotten. Thank you all for that. I am so proud and grateful for what he and all soldiers have done and still do for our country. Miss you Butchie. Sharon

I had the honor of working with Fred at Fort Bragg with the Army Career and Alumni Program. He loved the soldiers and would help them any way possible while they transitioned out of the military. He was an exceptional human. I miss you Fred

Uncle "Butch" as I called him as a child was my Hero he gave me the strength to become a better person then follow the path of our parents. Zab was my mothers brother. His light shines in my Heart forever.

Our Childhood was very hard yet he always made me believe there is a better tomorrow as long as you believe it!

I love and miss you every day Uncle Butch.
