I found this article very interesting regarding the robot or automatic pilot used in the Gamma which Hawks flew across country. I have a newspaper clipping showing Hawks and the plane at time of the event. As can be seen from the rest of my website, I believe this "new Sperry automatic pilot" was the new technology my father invented, which was different from the gyro technology of the sperry automatic pilot (see photo & website: http://www.debeeson.com/untoldstory/gammarobot.JPG . I'm wondering where there is more documentation on this. (I previously sent this comment but find I made a typo on the link. Hopefully it works now. Thanks, Max DeBeeson

HE WAS MY HERO WHEN I WAS SMALL. I REMEMBER SENDING A BOX TOP FROM POSTS 40% BRAN FLAKES AND A DIME AND GOT A PAIR OF WINGS AND A BOOK ON FLYING.THAT WAS BACK IN THE LATE 30'S OR EARLY 40'S. I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY I CAN'T FIND CAPTAIN HAWKS IN THE AVIATION HALL OF FAME. HE VERY DEFINITELY SHOULD BE THERE
