This just shows the short-sightedness of this attitude. While I too would "pick up arms" to defend Tibet if needed, that is not the answer, nor the long term solution.

There will be no "rebellion", just the truth finally spoken. Let's face it, China is already behind the curve of trying to stem the "rebellion" against human rights. It's a fight they cannot win. They may oppress their people now, for the short term, but in the long term, they will ultimately lose the battle. Human rights and respect for each other will be what ultimately wins. And this is why I still believe that Tibet will live again. Eventually, and it may take a long time, compassion and respect will win out. We (humans) are not a race of oppressors. We are a race of compassionate, loving beings. And because of that, Tibet will (some day) once again be a leader for all of us to follow.

As the old line goes, you can oppress the people but you cannot oppress their will!

Tibet will live again!

And to answer what "World" commented on, Tibet only "belongs" to China because China says it does. It's like trying to argue with the 800 pound (400 Kg) gorilla in the room. Ten minutes of research would make this clear. But I do agree, Tibet belongs to no one, except itself. Government by force ALWAYS fails in the end.

And I will pick up arms along with my Chinese brothers to smash your rebellion. Do not think your goal of independence surmounts ours to prevent it at all costs...

That's the problem. For all practical purposes, it _IS_ still secret. Although there have been books written about it, very few people know what went on and why. And the numbers are dwindling. And the truth is, I believe the CIA wants it this way. The fewer that know what went on, the fewer that know what the CIA was involved in and why. Don't get me wrong. At the time it was a secret operation that could/would have impacted international dialogue. So NO ONE knew much about what was going on - even within the US government at the time.

There's a saying that the victors get to write history. And that is precisely why these people are so important. They KNOW what happened and when. They know the truth. Yet they weren't the victors. I would urge each and every one of them to write down and document what they know so it's not lost. It's rare that we have an opportunity like this to write history from BOTH sides of the events.

It is a tragic time in history. One that has very little written about it. And as I said, it will get lost if we don't preserve it.

Lodric - I feel for you my brother. I too was in Golok in another time. Given the chance I would do it all again. And die again if needed.

Remember this though, Tibet will live again. Not today. Not tomorrow. But it will happen. There's too much history and too much good will of a great people that simply cannot be ignored.

'Till then. May we meet again!
