Dear Mr. Johnson,

it would be interesting if you explained in more detail what responsibility de Gaulle bears for the French Indochina War.
He was politically active through his RPF party(but not in power) during this war, but does that mean he was responsible for it?
He withdrew from politics in 1953, war ended 1954 but was it because of his withdrawal...
Actually he was farsighted enough to extricate France from Algeria after the French scored a military victory there.
To me it seems that the generally prevailing Anglo-Saxon bias against anyone who dares to think for himself and puts the interest of his country before those of the USA and the U.K. is very obvious in your article.

Sincerely, Daniel Wasielewski

It is quiet surprising to read the treatment mooted out to Decaulle at the hands of Allies commanders particularly Churchill and americans. It is sad a well trained General A Genous in military science has not been utilized particularly in the African theatre. It is snubbish to be treated in the hands of its own allies . No wonder the rudness of Hitler can be subdued in the face of arrogance displayed by Great churchill.

I have just reading your essay, sir, and in truth I was saddened and surprised by the amount of bias that I found in the text. I had indeed heard that the Americans were always obsessed with blackening de Gaulles name, but I had always convinced myself that this was just a myth. On the basis of your article, however I would be compelled to say that the story is no myth: it is very much truth. I await your response with curiosity, sir. Yours sincerely, Elie de Rosen
