Incidentally, the U.S. Marshals' Service has a website listing officers killed in the line of duty. They had listed George's name as "Selridge". It took a few emails on my part and the efforts of Donna Clark from the Goingsnake District Heritage Association in Colcord (she went to Beck Cemetery and photographed Geo's tombstone), but his name is now correctly recorded.
