sorry i hadn't looked at this for awhile, but here is my e-mail
Highlandconstructionservices@msn.com
Like Ted had said earlier we visited Dorthy Fall on may 15th and we watched a documentary about Banard Fall and the motion picture camera my father was shooting was rolling while Banard and my father died, it was quite a thing to watch my two brothers and I.

That could be it...or possibly one from the same roll. I would really like to see it. I have feelers out to the New York Times and AP, if they come up with something and it's different than what you have I can send you a copy ff you like, since it may be a photo that your dad actually took. Let me know how you would like to exchange info so we can send these photos.
Thank you so much for your response.

It could be the one... or maybe one from the same roll of film? I sure would like to see it. I also have some feelers out to track it down through the New York Times and AP. If I find one through them that's different from the one you have I can send you a copy of it if you like since it may have actually been taken by your father.
Let me know how you would like to send these photos and we can exchange info.
Wow, this is really great. Thanks so much for responding.

I'm not sure which picture you're talking about , but I have a pic of my father, supposibly minutes before his death, that someone took with his camera I beleive. to the left of the pic my father I see a man holding a m16 in his right hand and what seems to be a radio pack on his back. If this is it I would be glad to send it to you .

My father, David E. Bailey Sr. (1st Bat. 9th Mar. '66-'67) was the last person to talk to Bernard Fall and Gunnery Sgt Highland before the walked off around a bend on the Street Without Joy and were killed by the land mine (you are right there was no jeep). I believe that the photograph that accompanied the article (New York Times, I think) may have been one of, if not the last, photo taken by G.Sgt .Highland. This photo was of my father, he has his back to the camera, in his right hand he holds his M-16 and you can see the antenna from his field radio above his head. Many years ago the photo album with this news article and many others was lost. If anyone could give me info that could help me find a copy of this photograph I sure would appriciate it!

great article and story - just want to add that there was no jeep that caused the landmine to go off. i along w/ my 2 new found brothers met with dorothy fall on 5/15/09. we watched our father 's last video ( wich aired on pbs some 40 yrs ago ) which did not include a jeep detonating the landmine. It was a wonderful visit w/ dorothy, she is a very gracious person. she signed her new book titled bernard fall - memories of a soldier scholar and gave a copy to me and my brothers tom highland and ken highlandwe also got to visit our father, byron g. highland, grave @ arlington national cemetery.

I remember it well. I was there with Alpha Company 1st Battlion, 9th Marines when Mr. Fall was killed along with Gunnery Sgt. Highland. That was a very sad day.
