Although there may be no way to know how many men named Emile Giard there were serving during WWII I can tell you that my Uncle Emile Giard was a tail gunner in B-17's flying over Germany. was shot down once and survived. I would have loved to talk to him about this silver certificate dollar bill and the other names on it to find if he knows anything about it but he passed away this morning in Florida at the age of 88. Now it will always be a mystery to me.

To Cherie: My grandfather is Emile Giard. He was a tail gunner in a B17 Bomber. Im always on the web trying to find info about him. I hope I can cross reference those other names and unlock some new info. And I would love to see that bill.

Best way to follow this action is to walk it. You can visit the museum at St Come du Mont then drive toward Carentan until you get to a very nice little roadside restaurant called the "Nature", Then you can walk to the bridge where Cole initiated his charge, and tho it's a long walk, you can traverxse the "Cabbage Patch" and on to the Imgauf farm.
Bear in mind that it's been 65 years since the battle was fought. Theres a traffic circle now on the old N13 highway leading into Carentan and from there to the monument to the battle ...which is down by the "Champion" supermarket.
Don't overlook the 101 aid station which is a little further down the road to the train station'.
This whole area is worth seeing,
