You might want to re-read what I posted. I was being sardonic. I said nothing of the sort; in fact, I said the complete opposite.

I actually enjoyed the movie a lot. It was good fun.

Also, I strongly disagree with it not being 'respectable'. There's no propaganda whatsoever in the movie and there was nothing wrong with its presentation of the Persians if you actually look at the movie in context.

Shaun,
Are you trying to say that the movie based on...a comic was accurate?
unless you refer to the old movie with Richard Eagan which at least tried to maintain a semblance of respectability;the new film was a joke plus unpleasant propaganda in presenting the Persians as it did!

I'm guessing by "not accurate" the posters mean to say "this isn't accurate at all to what happened. I know. I watched the movie."

CS,jm:

What inaccuracy exactly do you blame Barry Strauss of?
CS:what books are you referring to?
If A.R Burn(foremost authority on Ancient Greece) "Persia and The Greeks"
Bury&Meiggs"History of Greece to 322 BC"
Herodotus "Historiae"(original text or the English translation)
Diodorus,Ephorus etc(original sources)
are adequate for you then on general lines they agree with Barry Strauss; his mistakes are few and secondary and they don't affect the story.
Barry I personally wish to say that the account was vivid and interesting and historically accurate;

Not accurate at all. You should check the books for some of the facts here.

[...] Thermopylae is narrowest at its two ends, the so-called East and West Gates, while the mountains are sharpest in the center of the pass, at the so-called Middle Gate (all modern appellations). It is here, at the Middle Gate, that the Greeks defended the pass.1 [...]
