He was a radarman and we found his diary, outlining this battle (as well as other locations that the Richmond traveled to, as well as other engagements of battle), even though it was a forbidden practice; to write anything down that described battles and/or locations. I have not been able to find drawings of an Omaha-class light cruiser and have wanted to find where sick bay was and how much of the battle a medical officer would have been able to observe from his duty station.
