This is a great read.

My grandfather, PFC Harry Stemple Jr. was killed December 18, 1944 near Wahlerscheid while serving with A Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry, 2nd Infantry Division.
He was awarded the Silver Star for climbing in an abandoned Tiger Tank with two other A Company buddies and using the tanks machine gun against the enemy as the citation reads.

He's from Jeanette, PA and it is where he rests.

Any additional information about my grandfather is greatly appreciated.

As a member of the 38th Infantry, 2nd Division I was in the battles for Wahlerscheid. We called that area, Heartbreak Crossroads. Even though there really wasn't a crossroad there. So called because we had to take the area twice. Once on the way to the Dam before the BOB and then to retake it after we stopped the Germans on the Northern Shoulder at Elsenborn Ridge. I think that I could still find my way around there even after 66 years.

I very much enjoyed reading this excellent article! However, I would like to point out that Feldmarschall Model's first name is WALTHER not Wilhelm.
Thank you.
