Hi ya'll! First, I would like to say that anyone, in my opinion, that destroys childrens art work, is a total scumbag-and that is putting it mildly!!

I am a Professional Educator, as well as a Historian, and if anyone ever "jacked" with my Civil War diorama, I would kick thier ass so hard, they would be wearing it for a hat!!!

Then I would have them prosecuted for destruction of property, and then I would level thier kharma, with a law suit for damages.

Let's see.............. My time is worth about $40 per hour, so 6,000 hours X $40 = $240,000 + $23,000(materials cost)= $263,000

He should also be forced by a Judge to beg for these childrens forgiveness, on National television!!!!

If anyone disagrees with me on any of this , you just E-Mail me, or call, and I will line you out too!

Any takers???????????? I thought not!

Best artical I've read yet about the 1865 battle. (still a few typo's: 212 miles, insted of 2 1/2 miles) Should get more reads, because of the "Hunt vs Frakes" controversy. Many blend the facts of 1864 battle with the 1865 battle; as far as Palmetto vs Palmito same as Bull Run vs Manassas. Records at Lincoln University show Branson fell back on the12th because his powder was wet from the crossing at Boca.
Offical Records give reason for expedition and it was not against Brownsville. Barrett was promoted after the Morrison courtmartial. There will be a viewing of "Last battle" artifacts at the Texas Civil War
Museum in Ft. Worth, January 2010. (uncovered evidence shows that
the action may have gone as far as May 15th and the 46th USCT off the Clinton needs credit for rearguard involvement.) Thanks! C.H.

I've lived on South Padre Island for 30 years. Been through the
circuitous route around the Brownsville Ship Channel back out to
Boca Chica. Highway 4 has one historical plaque.

This is absolutely the most in-depth story on the Battle I've ever
read.

It's amazing there was no greater loss of life. I've read accounts
that the Union Force had come under "fire" from the Mexican side
of the winding Rio Grande River.

Just a short distance from this area are the Battlefields from the
First Two Battle of the Mexican War. These Battles, Palo Alto &
Resaca de Las Palmas heralded the beginning of actual training
under actual fire for many of the Great Civil War Generals and
Officers from both sides.

Not as many plaques or monuments as up north where I grew
up. I still remember hiking Shiloh annually as a young Boy
Scout.

Love your website.............cv
