I was assigned to LST 930 in February 1946 as a seaman 2/c quartermaster striker. We moved eqipment from Milne Bay, New Guinea to Hollandia, New Guinea. After a stop at Siapan, we returned to Guam, and then returned to the states via Pearl Harbor. I stayed on board for the decommissioning of the ship.

I find it quite amazing that there were two William Porter Campbell Jr. in the Navy at the same time. Same nickname, "soupy" both went into the navy at 17 strange..........mine retired from the Navy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Wonder where the other ended up.

My father Joseph F. Federici served in the engine room on LST 930. When the ship came under attack from Kamikazis he was wonded but not so seriously that he could'n continue to serve and ended up in the Okinawa invasion. I would appreciate hearing from anyone having additional information on his ship.
