Fred Grice of Corsicanna Tx. retells a story he heard a long time ago about the last indian contact in Navarro county.
The indian was jumped in a ravine north west of Dawson Tx. and rode north along a "lane" that started 3/4 mile from town due north into the creek bottom that is the present day lake Navarro Mills where he escaped without injury.
For those who would like to follow this on Google Earth,
the coordinates are start 31°54'1.99"N 96°43'52.71"W
due north to cr nw 3190 across the old waco road (cr nw 3160)
then north to end 31°56'39.23"N 96°45'36.90"W

The location of the monument to the surveyors party is 1/8 of a mile of north of highway 31 west of Dawson Tx.
located at 31°53'25.89"N 96°44'22.90"W

Your Opinion Pole is not fair.
You put Alexander the great as an ancient commander.
Which I believe he was one of the best, but you forgot all about Kooroush of Iran that before Alexander
Conquered the whole world at the time.
If you talking about ancient he was the best.
Regards, Meelly
