Edith ordered a memorial fountain constructed at Chamery. She also placed a marble slab over her son’s grave engraved with her favorite quote from poet Percy Shelley’s “Adonais”:

He has outsoar’d the shadow of our night;
Envy and calumny and hate and pain,
And that unrest which men miscall delight,
Can touch him not and torture not again.
