Ron was in my pilot training class at Laredo, and we became good friends. I flew C-141s, and when he was in F-4s at Ubon, and I passed through, he'd come out to the flight line, and we'd catch up on things. We fell out of touch over the years, but that may end soon. I also live in Houston, and I'm going to look him up. It will be good to see an old friend.

An interesting side note to this article. My father, Capt. Leon " Woodie" Spears, Tuskegee Airman class 44-F, later flew the P-51 "Kitten" after Col. McGee rotated back to the U.S. He was shot down in Poland, and "Kitten ended up in a Polish junk yard. God bless the Tuskegee Airmen"

Ron was and may still be a flight instructor for Continental Airlines. You would be able to make contact by addressing the Continental Chief Pilot office at Houston Intercontinental Airport, or addressing the Continental Airlines Pilot Training Department at Houston Intercontinental Airport. You could even get a phone number by calling Continental Airlines in Houston and ask for the pilot training division. Good luck; with a few phone calls you will make contact.

I'm sorry I never met you Col. McGee. I was a high school friend of your son, Ron in Belton, Mo. I did not know he had such a famous father! I remember Ron so fondly. He was my "Courtwarming Prince" at Belton High School. I was wondering if there was a way to get in touch with Ron. Thank you. Sherrill (Sherry) Reed
