Harold,

Once again, mixing modern politics with historical politics? I have yet to see a racist comment against our current president. Not to be so ignorant as to believe doesn't happen, but when a recent liberal friend went to the 'net to 'prove' his accusations the best he could come up with was a protest sign comparing the President to Hitler. ... so, was it racist when President Obama's predecessor was subjected to the same criticism?!?!! Soon to be retired congressman Frank went trolling for racist and 'homo-phobe' comments among a tea party crowd and reported such comments - but NEVER provided any documented proof as to that result. I've seen the videos of that trolling expedition - and no comments of the type Mr. Frank was looking for occurred - in spite of cash rewards offered for any proof.
While I have no doubt that some racist comments have been offered about the President behind closed doors - I have NEVER seen a documented case of such a comment offered in public. Further, I'd rather dare say that you'll find a nearly equal number of racists in either party.
Yes, unlike Presidents Lincoln, Bush and Obama, I AM a little thin skinned - and frankly sick-and-tired of being falsely labeled as a racist because I'm conservative. Further, I have a bit of a passion for the truth - and am equally sick-and-tired of these FALSE accusations that the President has to face racist criticism from his opponents!!!
Would it be racist to demand a birth certificate from a certain conservative former governor from California because he has an Austrian accent - or is it OK (and not racist) to demand a birth certificate in this case because the man is white?!? Honestly, if there is a genuine suspicion a candidate for the highest office in the land wasn't born here, I don't care if he's the color purple, he should produce a Birth Certificate. We didn't accuse the little league of racism when they wanted a Birth Certificate for my son to play baseball.
Yes, technically Lincoln was not subjected to racist comments, but, to be brutally honest and fair, neither is the current president, publicly anyway. While president Lincoln was never asked for his Birth Certificate to prove his credentials - if they would've had 'em back then, I somehow think he'd have been happy to make his available - and not resorted to calling that move racist either.
Anyway, OK, I'm off my soap box...
