In an otherwise very informative article on the Ft. Steadman 
assualt, I noted one inconsistency that I thought I&#039;d bring to your 
attention.  The article mentioned: Major Ed Buckbee of the 1st 
Minnesota Sharpshooters; when the correct identity of the 
regiment should be the First (Regiment) Michigan 
Sharpshooters. This regiment fielded Co. &#039;K&#039; which was composed 
of Odawah and Chippewa men from the Isabella reservation, and 
Leelanau and Emmet counties. 

For readers wishing to learn more about the Michigan 
Sharpshooters I would recommend the excellent book ;  These 
Men Have Seen Hard Service (the only regimental history of the 
1st Mi SS) by author Ray Herek, and published by the Wayne 
State University Press.
