A state's right to do what? To steal a man's God-given freedom as expounded in the Declaration? Where would that right come from?

Actually, J.E., more than the first paragraphs bear a resemblance to each other: both of these articles are the same article. If you go back to the link you provided to civilwar.org and look directly below the title you will see (in all caps) "From America's Civil War Magazine (HistoryNet.com)." Our company published the article first, (originally in our America's Civil War magazine and then on our Website HistoryNet) and the Civil War Trust asked permission to reprint it on their site, CivilWar.org.

The Civil War Trust has successfully worked to preserve many thousands of acres of Civil War battlefields that would otherwise be unprotected and open to modern development, and the organization continues to do so. (You might want to consider joining the CWT and contributing to their ongoing efforts if you aren't already a member.) The Civil War Trust and Weider History Group (our company) have a long-standing relationship of cooperation whereby they have reprinted, with permission, a number of our articles on their site and we have reprinted, with permission, some materials from their site on ours — and each site credits the other when this occurs.

The war wasn't about slavery; it was about states' rights versus the encroachment of a monstrous, tyrannical, centralized federal government. "Freeing the slaves" was just a cover adopted by the northern Kool-Aid guzzlers.

Blacks today have never had it better, with affirmative action, set-asides, etc. Stop your whining. They have BETTER opportunities than other minority groups if they will just apply themselves.

I'm sure I could find a lot of people who were there that should be mentioned. This is not a full history of the battle, basically a synopsis.

Sam, if you look at the article on civilwar.org that you say we "just copied," you'll notice that right under the title are the words "From America's Civil War Magazine (historynet.com)." It was reprinted on civilwar.org, the Website of the Civil War Trust, with our permission, after it had appeared in our America's Civil War magazine and on our HistoryNet Website.
