It is impossible that Shaw's father commented on where Shaw was buried because his father died in 1882 before Shaw even went into battle. If that is not credible, then how much more in this article is a lie?

robert shaw was the main point in this story but it could be better if they focused on the african americans that fought in the war and how brave they were.

This was their biggest battle, It was created because Govener Andrews of Massachusetts wanted a regiment and the black people were the best pick, the blacks were far supirior to the whites physically, mentally though they had some room for improvment, I gotta say they were treated like dirt until the battle of Fort Wagner, their heroic deeds at Fort Wagner changed the opion of many northerners on black men fightingand they also caused thousands and I mean thousands of black men to enlist in the army.

That would depend on what era you are interested in. The first Army General was Benjamin O. Davis, Sr., another General of note was Roscoe Robinson Jr. There are several more. Most recently Gen. Colon Powell.

I TOTALLY AGREE. GLORY HAD SUCH A PROFOUND EFFECT ON ME THAT I HAVE TO KNOW THE REAL STORY.THE CIVIL WAR WAS THE WORST WAR THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER SERN OR EVER WILL SEE EVEN THOUGH WAR IN ITSELF IS HORRIBLE AND THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY THAN KILLING TO SOLVE OUR DIFFERENCES .GOD MADE US ALL, ALL NATIONS, ALL CREED AND COLOR BUT THE 54TH REGIMENT UNDER RG. SHAW WAS MOST MAGNIFICENT. THERE NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN SLAVERY IN THE FIRST PLACE.NOW BECAUSE OF IT THE HATRED BETWEEN BLACKS AND WHITES CONTINUES TO THIS DAY. I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL TO SHAW AND HIS MEN, THEY WERE AMAZING.

Wagner was a Battery, not a fort. If you go to Charleston, the National Parks Service makes that clear. It was always called a Battery until the movie, "Glory" was released. Wasn't the 54th Mass pretty much decimated in the skirmish at Battery Wagner since they pretty much charged into an ambush and were surrounded on all sides?
