This is really neat! We just found out that we are related to Isaac Davis as well! It's interesting because it sais that he did gunsmithing. I think it is all genetics. We are also related to John Moses Browning and ofcourse he was a gunsmither. My son loves guns and how they were made. And he is all into the history!! And the War. Just so cool.

I just came across your post. I was trying to find out if their are any paintings of Capt. Isaac Davis but can't seem to find any.
I'm also a direct decedant of Capt. Isaac Davis he is my 5th great grandfather. My great grandmother was Martha Davis.
Her father was Isaac Franklin Davis. His father was Isaac Davis born in 1795 and his father was Ephraim Davis son of Capt. Isaac Davis.

I have information dating back to Dollar Davis (who was the first settler in this Davis line to come to America) that was done for my grandmother Alice (Davis) Heald. I, would be the 6th great grandson of Isaac (my kids would be the 7th great grandchildren.) I believe Dollar was name # 594 inscribed at Ellis Island. Isaac had 4 children of his own and I can trace the line from there thru my children and would be happy to share what I have. Contact me @ troy.heald@fapeabody.com

I am also a direct descendant of Capt Davis (my grandmother was a Davis from Acton and was the town Historian and head of the DAR chapter and wrote much of the history of Capt Davis). The article says he was not the first to die. That is true. But he was the first commissioned officer to die for this country in the revolution.

This is a wonderful piece. I would love to see the genealogy on all the men mentioned in the story. The writer really brings it home. I felt like I was in the time, right there, as I read. Thanks a bunch! Nancy

Correction on the cannon's - they were not dug up and burned at Barrets farm - the cannons were recovered from Ephierm Jone's yard behind the tavern in Concord proper.

Barrett's farm lies beyond the North Bridge. Although various arms were buried in Barrett's fields the Red Coats sent there did not discover them. Most of the arms and munitions at Barretts farm and in concord itself had been removed days earlier as a result of Revere's intial April 7th ride.
