Come on: l !.It just wasn't like that..What the writer had missed was impossible for medics - actually killing the enemy and then seeing their dead bodies.

I, too met some arrogant scoundrels , epecially one named Obergruppenfuhrer Grein, But they were few - I had expected a lot more of them.. I ignored him, which seemed to bother him more. I just took his name after he deserted to our side in a village called Salnelles in Normandy, and unlike his more benign buddies, some of whom even gave me the names of their superior officers, I just turned to the next man without interrogating him furrher and he became upset, kept calling out to me trhat, as Gruppenfuhrer he deserved to be questioned like everyone else. The other prisoners just laughed at him, pointing at him and them touching their heads.

THESE WERE MEN WHO HAD BEEN VICTIMS OF THE NAZI PROPAGANDA MACHINE SINCE JOINING THE HITLER YOUTH AT AGE 11 AND NOW REALIZED HOW MISLED THEY WERE, BLAMING THE NAZI PARTY AND THE "PARTEIBONZEN" FOR THE SITUATION IN WHICH THEY FOUND THEMSELVES..
I doubt if any of them had ever personally done anything bad, THOUGH THEY ALSO PROBABLY NEVER DID ANYTHONG GOOD EITHER.

By rhe way, I, too am Jewish ( name changed by War Office, not by me: it had been "Tischler", from Vienna.

served with 10 (IA) Commando and trhe SSRF until getting in the way of a hand grenade which ended my war.
